![]() Tea Time at the Jug TourĮvery second Saturday of the month the park rangers host a “ tea party” from 10 to 11 AM at the main public thermal fountain in town. A wonderful way to see bathhouse row and the bathhouses from the back as well as see some of the public thermal water fountains. Take the 30 minute walk along the Grand Promenade for some fresh air and beautiful views. The third floor is the where you’ll find the sitting rooms- also surrounded by exceptional stained glass ceilings. It’s a beautiful underwater scene that combined with the marble fixtures makes it easy to see why bathing here in the early 1900s was the epitome of luxury and sophistication. In the men’s bath hall the ceiling is a stained glass comprised of approximately 8,000 pieces of glass. The main level boasts one of the most exceptional stained glass windows I have ever seen. The basement has a wonderful spot where you can actually see where the thermal waters come in from the earth- decked out with some incredibly large crystals that were added for show. Take the guided tour or explore it on your own- just make sure to explore all three floors. The main attraction of the Hot Springs National Park is the Fordyce Bathhouse. There is a ton to see and do and this list barely graces the surface. Hot Springs national park consists of two spas, a visitor center, art museum, several thermals from which you can collect water, plus numerous walking paths plus so much more. 5 Things to Do: Hot Springs National Park You can easily spend a weekend exploring the several block radius of the hot water baths and spas relaxing and without ever having to get back in your car. There is plenty more to see and do in Hot Springs, including horse races and lake activities, but my recommendation is to go for the national park and old part of town and skip the rest. Upper Dogwood trail has short rises and long stretches of flat trail.A national park smack dab in the middle of a mini metropolis is unique to say the least. Near the top, boulders mark the westernmost tip of the trail. Lower Dogwood Trail climbs North Mountain. Arlington Trail will connect with Lower Dogwood Trail. From either trailhead you will descend into a valley and climb the other side.Īsk for directions to the trailhead from staff at the Arlington Hotel lobby. The trail going west from the campground is steep.įloral Trail connects Lower Dogwood Trail and Honeysuckle Trail. Gulpha Gorge Trail connects the Gulpha Gorge Campground to many of the park's trails. The trailhead starts south of the parking area. Limited parking is available at the overlook on North Mountain. A local motel lies just south of the trailhead. Grand Avenue Trail connects Oertel Trail with Grand Avenue. Use it to reach Honeysuckle Trail by crossing the road. This short trail begins on Fountain Street below the entrance to Hot Springs Mountain Drive. Honeysuckle Trail connects Peak Trail with Hot Springs Mountain Trail. Hot Springs Mountain Trail is an easy stroll around the top of the mountain with several scenic overlooks. ![]() Reserve Trail connects Oertel Trail with Spring Street and Reserve Street at a "Y" intersection. Short Cut Trail connects Oertel Trail with Hot Springs Mountain Trail near a picnic area. Peak Trail leads to the Hot Springs Mountain Tower. The beginning of Peak Trail is paved then turns to gravel. The lower portion of the Tufa Terrace Trail is near the Hot Water Cascade. This paved trail can be reached from the Grand Promenade or Arlington Lawn. Oertel Trail ranges from moderate to very steep grade. ![]() Take the road right until you reach an iron gate the trailhead begins here. The Grand Promenade has four entry points: Reserve Street (stairs), Fountain Street (ramp), Stephen’s Balustrade (grand staircase), and an access ramp behind the Fordyce Bathhouse.įrom downtown, ascend the Stephen's Balustrade (grand staircase) behind the Fordyce Visitor Center to the Grand Promenade and climb the next two sets of steps until you reach the gravel road. Oertel, Peak, and Tufa Terrace trails all branch off from the Grand Promenade and lead to other trails. This National Recreation Trail is the entry point for many of the Hot Springs and North Mountain trails from downtown.
